I was born in Canada and have lived here my whole life. I started drawing at a young age in elementary school when I became interested in comic books. The art in those comics caught my attention more than the stories themselves. So, I began to draw all of the superheroes. I did rather well the first few times, and that is probably what got me hooked and why I continued to draw all throughout elementary, junior high and high school. Art books and art classes taught me the proper techniques and rules for drawing. I consider myself a mix of a self-taught and a classroom-taught artist; not straining too far outside of the rules, but making my own way around them. My range of art stretches from drawing to painting.

Drawing portraits is extremely satisfying for me. I pay particular attention to details and make sure that the emotion of the subject is carried out through the strokes of pencil to the viewer. When I hand over a finished work, I love to see the person smile and say, "It looks like a photograph. I can't believe you did this!" I also love to hear the stories of how someone reacted when my art was given as a gift.

A portrait lets you celebrate that special pet or person in your life. I would love to have the opportunity to capture the personality and the soul of your pet, or represent the special relationship that you have with your family, friends or loved ones through a work of art. If you are considering a portrait as a gift, then you have chosen a wonderful and unique idea. A number of my clients have given a portrait as a gift and have said how surprised and overwhelmed the recipient was. Portraits can be given for special occasions such as birthdays, retirements, weddings, and graduations.

Each time you look at the portrait, I promise that your gaze will linger just a little bit longer to take in all of the detail, expression and soul of the person or pet, and I hope that you will allow me the opportunity to do so.
